There is a great news for the Pentaxian, and anyone who needs a camera that is tough, and reinforced
with the latest features. Ricoh has launched the Pentax K-S2, a small
weather-resistant digital SLR features a number of roomates firsts for the
K-series. Ricoh admits that fact with the 20-megapixel Pentax K-S2, a camera
that offers much to differentiate it from its consumer and enthusiast DSLR
rivals.
Pentax K-S2 also claimed by Ricoh as the world's smallest dust-proof camera,
weather-resistant DSLR - boats built-in Wi-Fi, NFC and has a vari-angle LCD
monitor, also available in multiple colours. To accompany the K-S2 RICOH
IMAGING has also developed the smc PENTAX-DA L 18-50mm F4-5.6 DC WR RE standard
zoom lens as an exclusive kit lens. The Pentax K-S2 is equipped with a 20 APS-C
(23.5 x 15.6 mm) CMOS sensor and is the world’s first smallest dust proof
camera.
The Pentax
K-S2 doesn't replace the K-S1, but sits above it in Ricoh's Pentax lineup. The
K-S2 features the state-of-the-art SAFOX X AF sensor module, which assures
responsive, high-precision autofocus operation. With its 11 sensors including
nine cross-type sensors in the middle, this AF system assures pinpoint focus on
a subject at a minimum brightness level of as low as –3 EV. The K-S2 uses a
20-megapixel APS-C (23.5 x 15.6 mm) CMOS sensor which lacks an anti-aliasing
(AA) filter to produce sharper images. This is paired with the same PRIME M II
imaging engine which featured in its flashy K-S1 sibling.

The K-S2
also features an upgrade from the autofocus systems of the K-S1 and K-50, with
an 11-point SAFOX X phase-detection AF sensor, of which nine are the better
cross type, and the camera can record Full HD 1080p video footage at 30/25/24
fps, or HD 720p video at 60/50/30/25/24 fps.
The Pentax K-S2 features a
PENTAX-developed In-body SR mechanism or SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism to
minimise camera shake and assure sharp, blur-free images, even in
camera-shake-prone conditions such as when using a telephoto lens, shooting
low-light scenes with incident light only, or photographing sunset scenes.
The Pentax
K-S2 is equipped with a RICOH-original image-processing technologies or a
Clarity Enhancement features — a RICOH-developed imaging technology designed to
capture the subject’s texture and unevenness more truthfully and produce a more
true-to-life depiction of the subject based on the human visual
characteristics. Also provided on the mode dial is a new Advanced HDR or A-HDR
position, which combines the Clarity Enhancement with the conventional HDR mode
that composites a single, extra-wide-gradation image from three images taken at
differing exposures.
You will
love the K-S2, because you can captures impressive Full HD video or movie clips
(1920 x 1080 pixels; 30/25/24 frame rate) in the H.264 recording format, along
with natural, and lively stereo sound. It also assures flawless, high-quality
movies even with fast-moving subjects. It even provides cutting-edge movie
functions, such as a 4K Interval Movie mode that connects still images recorded
at a certain interval to produce a single movie file, and a Star Stream mode to
fade in and out the traces of stars to recorded movies.

Ricoh has
also adopted an important feature for faster connectivity, especially if you
want to split your photos to various social media networks such as Facebook or
Twitter. The Pentax K-S2 has been armed with wireless LAN compatibility for
easy access to smartphones or tablet computers. This is for the first time in
the Pentax K series. It also provides NFC (Near Field Communication) functions
for easy pairing with NFC-compatible smartphones and other communications
devices, simply by bringing the K-S2 into proximity with a target device. Also
by installing the newly developed, exclusive Image Sync application on a
communications device, the user can effortlessly control the K-S2’s aperture,
shutter-speed and ISO-sensitivity settings, release its shutter, check the
live-view image, and even browse and upload recorded images onto SNS sites such
as Twitter or Facebook remotely. Do Pentax K-S2 could be a new competitor for similar cameras?
